Reduced risk of complications

During oncology treatment, robotic surgery allows the surgeon to make minimally invasive incisions, reducing the risk of complications such as infection, bleeding, and the need for blood transfusions.

More comfortable for both the patient and the surgeon

During robotic surgery, the oncology surgeon makes smaller incisions, which means that patients experience less pain and discomfort, allowing them to get back to their normal lives more quickly.

Hematological Tests in Immunology Laboratories equipped with the latest technology

Flow cytometric immunophenotyping, an inevitable aid in diagnosing hematological cancer and requiring special experience, is performed by counting over two hundred thousand cells in a large panel and interpreting and reporting.

Shorter recovery time

The advanced technology allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater control. The use of minimal incisions in robotic surgery reduces the length of hospital stay and provides a shorter recovery time.

Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET-CT) is a medical imaging technique that combines PET and CT imagination in a single scan. With the PET technique doctors can observe the body's biological functions, such as glucose metabolism, which can be an indicator of cancer, CT allows different images to be taken of the inside of the body. Because of this, Memorial Hospital expert teams generally apply the combination of these two imaging techniques to provide a more accurate diagnosis.

Recognising that some changes in genes have an effect on the development of cancer, specialists at the Memorial Hospitals Group Oncology Clinic use some genetic tests in cancer screening, such as ALK and EGFR for lung cancer, MSI to assess gene functionality in Lynch syndrome, and ROS1/ROS2 to detect gene rearrangements, particularly in small-cell lung cancer.

Robotic onco-surgery, also known as robotic cancer surgery, is an innovative technique for cancer treatment in Turkey that utilizes advanced robotic technology which enables more advanced maneuvers compared to open cancer surgery. At Memorial Oncology Clinic, specialized surgeons can perform both open and robotic surgery depending on the cancer stage or overall health of the patient.

Immunotherapy, recognized as biological therapy, serves as an augmentation to the body's natural defense mechanisms against cancer, by application of techniques like monoclonal antibodies and cancer vaccines under the guidance of medical oncologists. Additionally, targeted therapy which is another medical oncological treatment technique aims to destroy specific proteins responsible for uncontrolled cancer cell growth. In a formal medical setting, oncologists utilize this method to meticulously target and regulate these proteins, impeding the progression of cancer. When needed, oncologists at Memorial Hospital Groups may use a combination of these techniques to achieve more effective results.

The Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)/Truebeam System is an advanced cancer treatment method that is expertly delivered by a radiation oncologist. During this innovative treatment process, also called surgical radiation therapy, oncologists use beams of radiation to destroy cancer cells in the brain, neck, or other parts of the body.

Breast cancer treatment involves a multidisciplinary approach including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy. The available surgical options, such as lumpectomy and mastectomy, vary depending on the size and location of the tumor. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy are used to target cancer cells, while hormone therapy is used to suppress estrogen. In some cases, the oncologist may use targeted therapy, which focuses on specific markers, or immunotherapy to boost the immune response.

FAQs

Although challenging, liver metastases can be treated effectively if detected early. The treatment process of liver metastases depends on the location of the primary cancer and the overall health of the patient.

Colon cancer can be caused by various factors, including unhealthy eating habits and obesity. Research indicates that approximately 30% of colon cancer cases are linked to genetic factors.

To prevent and diagnose breast cancer at an early stage, it is recommended to eat a healthy diet, avoid harmful habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol, use medicines prescribed by doctors after menopause, perform regular self-examinations at home, and have regular medical check-ups.

Bladder cancer typically affects individuals over the age of 65, but it can occur in any age group, including young people.

According to many scientific studies, the incidence of thyroid cancer in women is approximately 3 times higher than in men, but the reasons for this are still unclear.

Thyroid cancer patients should have regular check-ups as recommended by their doctor. The oncologist will take into account the type of cancer and the patient's general health when deciding how often to have a follow-up. The appointments may be every few months at first, then every six months or annually.

It is not certain what causes thyroid cancer, but radiation exposure and genetic factors can lead to it. To prevent thyroid cancer, doctors may recommend reducing radiation exposure or undergoing thyroid surgery if you are in a high-risk group.

As the thyroid gland stores most of the body's iodine, research suggests that individuals with iodine-deficient diets are more likely to develop thyroid cancer. Therefore, it is crucial to consume seafood, such as fish, and iodine-rich salt during treatment and to reduce the risk of thyroid cancer.

There is no definite advice on when people at risk of thyroid cancer should have their first test. Blood tests may be performed on those with a family history of thyroid cancer to provide specialists with information regarding the suspicion of thyroid cancer, and to schedule their first screening.
